The SSA Professional Development Committee (PDC) is accepting proposals for pre-conference workshops held in-person during the 2022 SSA Annual Meeting (May 18-21) at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Houston. Workshops will be half- or full-day (4 or 8 hour) sessions and scheduled for Wednesday, May 18. In some cases, half-day workshops are on the Saturday afternoon following the conference.
Proposals are due by midnight on Friday, January 14, 2022, and must be submitted through this form.
Workshop topics can cover any aspect of the archival enterprise. The PDC is open to hearing your workshop ideas – from teaching management skills and developing technical abilities, to undertaking diversity and inclusion initiatives and DIY projects. We want to offer you space to share your expertise with your colleagues. Proposals should address workshop topic and format, target audience, learning objectives and outcomes, and an explanation of hands-on/interactive components. Workshop attendees should come away with a combination of theoretical knowledge and a practical skill that can be applied.
Workshops featuring co-presenters, first-time presenters, current graduate students, early-career professionals, lone arrangers, community members, and other individuals who work with archival materials in less traditional or unconventional roles are highly encouraged to apply. Honorariums are available to all presenters.
